The fashionista

We are in over our heads with Lily. She continues to be obsessed with clothes and jewelry and makeup. She lays out her outfits the night before. Here she even coordinates he clothes with her purse and jewelry:

Most times she will put several outfits together so she has many choices in the morning

Even though she picks out her clothes at night, each morning she has a melt down over what she will wear. She never wants to wear the clothes she picked out the night before. Some days it takes us 30 minutes - 1 hour of crying before she decides what to wear:

This little princess is all sugar and spice

I just really hope she is getting this out of her system early. I can't even imagine what the teenage years will hold for us if she continues to be this obsessed with clothes.

Music Recitals

Jack and Lily both finished up their music classes. Lily had a small recital during class

Jack had a bigger recital where he got to play the piano to an audience

Luke got Jack a wii game for his recital gift. Jack had been practicing piano every morning for months to graduate this class. Way to go Jack!

And on to April

I am having a hard time keeping up with this blog. In fact, I am having a hard time keeping up with anything while training for this half marathon. It seems like all my free time during the day (which is only like an hour) is spent running. And then by night time, I'm ready to collapse into bed. I am so thankful that the race will be over in 2 weeks. Until then, I have to keep running!

Josie is trained to sleep in the stroller. She usually falls asleep within 5 minutes of my run and will wake up as soon as the stroller stops. Most days it works out great. But then there are the days when she doesn't sleep. Those days are no fun:

She has also started trying some new foods. She just likes to taste things but doesn't really eat much.

When the girls are together I always hear how much they look alike. But sometimes when I see Josie, I get flashbacks of Jack as a baby

This third time around we haven't even fought the cosleeping issue. Josie sleeps with us and for the first time we actually like it. She is a snuggly little girl and we know she'll be in her own bed soon enough
Me with my girls
Lily is still obsessed with clothes. She has mini meltdowns every day over what she will wear. She even asks me to take pictures of her in different outfits so she can see what they look like:
A couple weekends ago we went to a monster truck race with Luke's boy scout troop. Neither Luke or I were prepared for how loud it would be. Thankfully we had brought earplugs and headphones just in case

But even it was still too loud for the baby. Thankfully, they were selling the noise canceling headphones so I bought a pair for Josie

They seemed to work fine and she was able to sleep most of the race. Although, I if I had known better I wouldn't bring a baby again. Too loud and also the smell of exhaust was terrible.

Our two boy scouts. One of whom is too cool to open his eyes for pictures.
Jack and Lily both started Spring Soccer this month. This is Lily's first time at soccer and she loves it
There is a face that Lily makes when she is trying to be mean to other kids. I have been trying to get a picture of it, but it's really hard. I finally got it at soccer. I think she was squinting at the sun, but this is her mean face

She makes this face when she gets bossy around other kids

Growing up as an only child I had no idea how much siblings fight. Seems like they fight more the older they get. The fighting gets old so fast and I have very little patience for the constant bickering. So we came up with a solution. The kids have a card on the fridge that says "We love each other" and every time I catch them playing nice or doing something nice for the other one, they get a star. When they fill the card with stars, they get a treat. It took them a few weeks to fill their first card, but they were so excited for their treats!

My trip to California

My littlest cousin Acacia, got married on April 11th. I wanted to go to the wedding, but the headache and cost of flying out there with all five of us was overwhelming. Luke suggested I just take the baby and go by myself. I contemplated this idea for a couple months. I had never been away from the kiddos except for giving birth. It was a big deal for me. But I went ahead and decided to go for it.

Friday morning (April 10th) I went on a 13 mile training run. Then I packed my bag. It was amazingly easy to just pack for me and Josie. Then I headed over to say bye to Jack. He was eating lunch at school and when I hugged him, he started crying. Then I almost started crying. I reminded him that he would have fun while I was gone and that Luke would take him to Ft. Fun. That was all it took and he was happy again. Then Luke dropped me and Josie off at my moms house and we said goodbye.

My mom and I headed for the airport and everything was so smooth. Even the airplane ride was great and Josie slept the entire time. Friday night we got settled into the hotel and I was amazed at how easy traveling was with just one baby.

Saturday morning Luke's family came and picked me up at the hotel and we went to breakfast and then back to Grammie's house. It was their first time meeting Josie so they were all excited.

Then I headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. It was great to see all my family again and for them to have a chance to meet Josie

After the wedding we had a reception dinner at a nearby restaurant:

And then we headed back to Kristi's house for a while.

Sunday morning it was off to brunch:

Then to my grandparents house:

Then to the airport:
Things on my side went great. It was by far the easiest vacation I have taken since before kids. I was even able to find time to read an entire book... something I haven't done in years sadly.

Back at home, Luke and the kids were super busy. Friday night Jack and Lily both had soccer games. Then Saturday morning they both had swimming, followed by Game Day at Jack's school and then a birthday party at night. Sunday was less scheduled and they went to church and Ft. Fun.
I got home Sunday night and the kids were alive, house was clean and laundry was going. Luke had done a great job... guess I need to go away more often :)
