Made it to March!

March was a great month! We were all feeling better, the weather started getting better and we were finally able to enjoy some fun family days.

A favorite place of ours is Fort Fun. Jack and Luke love to mini golf while Lily and I walk around and play games

Fort Fun also has an awesome slide.
Lily was able to go down all by herself and although she was scared at first, she loved it and we could have spent all day at the slide

With the nice weather, we have been out on our trail again riding bikes and going for walks.

Over Spring break we had a few fun days. Jack came to Lily's gymnastics studio and was able to play on the equipment:

I took the kids to a nearby indoor pool

We spent many hours at the parks

 and playing outside:

and playing inside
 Jack started soccer again

We went on our first real hike of the season. It was to Horsetooth Falls and was a little over 2.5 miles and both kids did a great job!

I am so excited for Spring to be here! Colorado is a beautiful place to live and I can't wait to get outdoors more.

Videos from Jack's School

I love Jack's school. I am amazed every time I get to walk by a classroom and hear kids speaking in so many languages!

Almost there...February pictures and video

We made a trip to the Museum of Nature and Science in Denver. The kids had a great time checking out the dinosaurs...

petting snakes...
and visiting with the rest of the museum.
We made it home in time to watch the Superbowl

We also battled a super freeze. Weeks and weeks of sub zero temperatures. The only time we were outside was the time it took to run to the car which had to be preheated for at least 15 minutes. It was miserable.

Jack got his second cast off in February.

We were surprised with a beautiful sunny day and made the trip up to Boulder to enjoy it

We spent another freezing day inside the CSU campus where they were hosting a physics open house. We spent a while building little devices to see if we could get them to stay in the wind tunnel.
The best part of the day was when we went to a demonstration on how to make ice cream with liquid nitrogen. Everyone got to taste some at the end and it tasted just like dippin' dots.

In other news, since Jack is at kindergarten three days a week I have finally been able to enroll Lily in some classes just for her. Right now she takes gymnastics and dance. She loves both...but I can already tell she is a little dancer...

Lily will dance to any music. Even music from books...

Also in February Jack's french class hosted an international assembly at school celebrating France.

Can you tell they love each other?
Jack's class also performed a short dance in front of the school:

Getting caught up...January pictures

January was the month of sicknesses. You can read about it in my post from January. It was a nightmare. A couple things of interest did happen:

We made a fort from all of the Christmas boxes we had gathered

Jack broke his elbow
Got his first cast

Then Lily broke her nose. Well, we don't have the official diagnosis of broken nose from a doctor yet, but seeing as she still has a definite bump and mark I think we will find out it is/was broken at her next appointment.

We took a ski trip to Winter Park with my parents. The kids loved riding in the wagons
Jack couldn't take lessons because of his broken elbow, so he and Lily went in the day care for a whole day while Luke and I took ski lessons together. It was a blast! First time skiing with Luke in over 5 years.

One day we took the kids sledding. You can't really tell by this picture but this was a HUGE hill. Not even sure it was safe for Luke to take the kids. But they loved it anyways.
2 weeks after his first cast, Jack got the cast off and had his arm re-exrayed. It was still broken so he chose red for his next cast and had to wear that for another 3 weeks.

I took this picture of me and Lily and it brought back memories from when she was a tiny baby who would only sleep in my arms

Lily 2 months

and speaking of babies... we also got a surprise this month...

Never to late... December pictures and video

I have been so busy lately that updating this blog is becoming harder and harder. It is my March resolution to start updating more often :)

Now, to get caught up on the last 3 months. Starting with December.

It was a really cold winter with lots of snow.

We took Jack and Lily to get their pictures with Santa and as an added bonus they got to see Santa ride his bike
Three years of Christmas

At some point we got hooked on Einstein Bros. bagels. They cost a fortune if you eat there a lot, so I tried my hand at making bagels...
I guess they were edible... but it's not worth the trouble to make them again.

Every so often our church holds events for married couples where they provide free childcare. It is amazing! We've done game show night, dance lessons, casino night and more... Best part is that by the time we go to pick up the kids, they are already tuckered out

Little Miss Lily is such a girl. She loves to brush her hair and loves makeup!

I have since had to relocate all my makeup to the upper cabinet way out of reach...

Here is a video of Jack singing the 10 commandments song that he learned at church

Jack and the guitar he got for Christmas. Lily will dance to his music each time he plays

I've seen better days...

Like I said in the last post, Luke was feeling really sick on Christmas day. The next day I was feeling sick too. Luke and I tried to stay in bed, but the kids weren't sick so they were bouncing off the walls. It is really hard to have both parents sick at the same time!

Thankfully Luke started feeling a little better the next day, while I got really sick. I think it was the flu and I spent the day in bed with shivers/high fever/etc. It was awful...I didn't think it could get any worse. It took several days to finally feel like I was on the mend, but after one good day I got a terrible headache. The worst headache I've ever had. I couldn't even think or walk with out pain. The pain was even in my teeth. After a couple days of the headache I finally called the doctor and they said it was probably a sinus infection and to rinse my sinuses. Luke went out and bought the NeilMed pot and it worked like a charm. After a day of using it, my headache finally went away! Yay!

But by now the Christmas break was just about over and I didn't get to do any of the fun things I had planned with the kids. I was still feeling a little off so the Sunday before school started we decided to take the kids to a bounce house place so they could do something fun after being stuck in the house with sickies for two weeks.

We weren't even at the bounce house place for 15 minutes when we found Jack laying on the floor screaming in pain. He said someone pushed him down a slide and he heard his arm crack. He was screaming that his arm was broken. We took him to urgent care where they did xrays but they didn't see a fracture. So instead, they diagnosed him with nursemaids elbow and tried to manipulate it back into place. They gave him splint and sent us on our way and said to follow up with the orthopedic doctor next week. Unfortunately, the orthopedic doctor couldn't see Jack until Thursday so Jack had to be a trooper and go to school and deal with the pain for four days.

Meanwhile, I was finally feeling better again and was able to get caught up on the cleaning and chores that had been neglected. Then Wednesday night I started throwing up... it lasted all night and morning long. Last time this happened I ended up in the ER so this time I called the doctor right away Thursday morning and got some Zofran. It worked like a charm and stopped the vomiting, but didn't really help with the nausea. Thursday afternoon was Jack's appointment with the orthopedic doctor and he was diagnosed with a broken elbow and he got a cast.

Friday I was feeling better again and was able to help at Jack's school. We went to the clubhouse Friday night where they had a happy hour and pizza. After that we played Wii and went to bed early. Later that night Jack came into our room feeling sick. Then he started throwing up...all over the bed.

What a month! But it didn't stop there.

Towards the end of the month we took a trip to Winter Park and the night before we were to leave Lily decided to head bang the table. Huge bump, possible broken nose. Nothing the doctors can do for her so now she just has to wait it out.

I'm ready for February to be here already!
