Summer happenings

Summer is quickly drawing to an end and we are doing our best to squeeze in as much fun during these last few weeks before everything changes.

A couple weeks ago we met up with some friends for our second trip to 6 flags Elitch Gardens this summer

The whole silly gang
Jack has been taking golf lessons this summer and for the graduation they held a family golf day on the golf course.

With an ice cream party afterwards:

We also participated in the 2nd of the 1 mile family fun runs.
I had anticipated sticking with Lily while Jack and Luke ran the race since Lily walked most of it last time. But this time Lily surprised all of us when she wanted to keep running with Luke and Jack and left me in her dust. She even outran Jack to the finish line.
Here we are after the race
The kids and I were able to make it to one of the local fun days hosted by our city where the kids got to ride in a train
Sit in a police car
And eat cotton candy
And we had a visit from my Aunt Eileen and her kiddos who we hadn't seen for 2 years.

Here we are back in 2012
It's hard to believe that we only have less than a month before Jack starts 1st grade, Lily starts preschool and the baby is due to arrive! These next few weeks are going to be pretty slow as we wind down the summer and get ready to welcome the new changes

Celebrating 10 years!

Can't believe it's been 10 years since I married my best friend! Although we had hoped to go back to our honeymoon spot in Belize for our 10 year anniversary, it wasn't meant to be since I am 8 months pregnant... Instead we spent the week celebrating. On our actual anniversary date we all went out for a family celebration at the Chocolate Cafe and indulged on delicious desserts. Then we went home and watched our wedding video with the kids who were throughly amused at how their daddy looked like "a little boy"

Then, that Saturday night Nani and Papi watched the kids so we could have some adult time. We went to the Melting Pot for dinner which used to be our "go to" anniversary restaurant.

After dinner we headed to Pinot Palette for some painting:

The painting for the evening was Van Gogh's Starry Night. We didn't want to have two of the same painting so we adapted the painting so we could each paint half and then combine them to make one big painting. It was a little hard at first, but we were really happy with how it turned out:

Here is a group shot of the entire class
It was a great night celebrating with my favorite person!

Meet Froggie the Frog

Several weeks ago Luke and Jack came home with a frog after one of their fishing trips. Apparently Luke spotted it while fishing and Jack convinced him to bring it home. So they went and picked up a small aquarium and surprised Lily and I when they came in with the frog.

Jack is an animal lover and he absolutely loves his new pet. He has named him Froggie and he loves to "pet" the frog regardless of how many times we tell him frogs don't like to be touched.

While cleaning his aquarium we let Froggie free in the grass

Then last weekend when the kids were riding bikes at the mountain park, Jack spotted another small frog hopping along. We brought him home to keep Froggie company. This frog was named Jumpie.

New friends
The frogs seem to like each other and the kids are still loving having a pet. We get to feed them meal worms and crickets every morning and the kids love to watch.

Jack loves to fish!

Fishing has become the obsession of Jack. He asks almost every day to go fish with Luke. It has turned into their weekend tradition and Jack loves every moment. And the fish seem to like Jack. He is constantly catching little blue gills and sun fish.

Jack and Daddy fishing outing
One Saturday Luke and Jack rented a fishing boat and spent several hours at the reservoir.

Another weekend Lily and I joined them for a few hours and Lily got to try fishing with the boys

I am constantly surprised at how patient Jack is when it comes to fishing. This is the boy who can't sit still for 5 minutes, yet he can fish for 4-6 hours straight (I am bored after 10 minutes). It's amazing and I am happy that Jack and Luke have had this time together.

The pregnancy plan

This is the first pregnancy that I have made exercise a priority. I took the first 10 weeks off because of the flu/morning sickness... but since 10 weeks pregnant I have followed an exercise plan. I was able to keep up running until 22 weeks and then I switched to the elliptical machine. I usually do elliptical 3 days a week and then I have some pregnancy DVD's I do the other three days. I average 60 - 90 minutes of exercise daily. My hope is not only that I keep the pregnancy weight in check, but also that I do not have to be induced. I have also found that regardless of how tired I am in the morning, exercising always gives me more energy.
Lily is my exercise buddy and follows the DVD's with me
Right now I am just about 35 weeks along and I would love for this baby to be the first one who comes without induction. I guess only time will tell...
