Final training month!

April was the last month of marathon training. Part of the training plan included a half marathon race up Hughes Stadium. This was a brutal race that was made even harder by a huge storm that came in the night before.

Race morning was snowy and freezing. Thankfully I had my running buddy with me:

This half marathon is known for it's killer hills. The race was so hard and made me even more nervous for the full marathon. I was dead by the end of the race.. as you can see in this awful picture.

After the race we headed over for our hard earned free beers:

After that race, I had two weeks of easy running. The weather was nice and the runs were short. Then the week before the marathon the weather turned crappy again. My last training run was freezing cold and sleeting rain. It felt good to be so close to the end!

April Happenings

April was a busy month. It was my last month of hard training and Luke was super busy with a project at work. Plus, we started home searching so any free time was spent driving around looking at homes.

In between running, working and house searching we did manage to do a few other things:

My date night with Lily:

Boy Scouts BBQ at our friends house

Boy Scouts graduation:

Tea Party with Lily at the bottom of the stairs

Jack graduated from his music class and had a final recital where he got to play his own composition for everyone

We have still been struggling to get Lily to sleep in her bed all night. She has night terrors and constantly comes into our room. We found that if she sleeps in Jack's bed, she doesn't wake up at night. So they have been "sharing" a bed, which really means Jack has 90% of the bed and Lily has 10%.

I'm sure it doesn't help that Jack loves to terrorize his sisters. He got in big trouble one morning when I came downstairs and found this:

"A monster is going to come any day. I am going to take

Marathon training month 3 and 4

The hardest part of training is over! It has been a long, hard journey to train for this marathon. Last month (March) I ran 180 miles and this month will probably be the same. My routine usually consists of three "short" 6-10 mile runs during the week, with one long run (14-20 miles) on the weekend. On top of that I usually take a masters swim class plus one weigh lifting class at the gym. It is a lot of work and I am looking forward to a break.

I am very lucky to have a friend who runs with me on the long weekend runs. They are anywhere from 2-3+ hour runs so it is good to have a friend to talk to and to keep me going when I'm ready to give up. Less than 3 weeks till race day!
