On Cinco de Mayo the neighborhood came together to say goodbye to one of the long-term neighbors who were moving, as well as to drink lots of margaritas!
We also found out that Luigi loves to play with toilet paper rolls
And sleep like this:
I forgot about my kombucha and had it explode in the kitchen when I finally opened it:
The kids enjoyed a hailstorm:
Jack and some of his buddies did their first escape room:
My mom came back from India and brought the girls some beautiful dresses:
Last day of school:
Friends of ours joined us and we visited the Dinosaur National Monument with them:
That night Jack started feeling sick too:
In anticipation, I put the bucket in the tent...but unfortunately it didn't stop the projectile vomit from getting all over the tent. Jack was so sick that night, we ruined a few towels...
poor guy
We decided to end the trip early, I did not want to risk another night of vomit, or another child getting sick. But before we left, we stopped at a reservoir for the day. Luigi loved rolling in the dirt:
The girls loved playing in the sand:
That afternoon we headed home, but made a wrong turn somewhere an turned our 8-10 hour drive, into a 12 hour drive. Ugh. I don't think we will be going back to Dinosaur National Monument anytime soon.

We had four boys and four moms and escaped with only 2 minutes to spare! Everyone had a blast!

Lily's first VOC trip with Luke and Jack. This trip didn't go quite so smoothly as Jack had an encounter with another (older) boy who flipped Jack on his head. None of the parents saw it happen, but apparently later that night Jack's eyes weren't tracking with the light and the VOC leaders suspected a concussion. So Luke had to pack up and take both kids an hour and a half to the nearest hospital to check Jack for a concussion. In the middle of the night, Luke called my phone and left a message telling me that Jack hit is head and they were in the hospital to check for a concussion. The next morning when I got the message, with no followup from Luke, I had a couple hours of panicking and calling every hospital around. Luke's cellphone was not working and there was no way to get ahold of him. Finally I was able to find the hospital and they told me Jack had been discharged. Phew. He was diagnosed with a concussion and had a couple days off school, taking it easy.
Over Memorial Day weekend we drove up to Dinosaur National Monument. It was a long drive (10 hours) so we stopped in Steamboat Springs one night to break up the drive. We had Luigi with us so Luke slept in the truck with him (no dogs were allowed in the hotel). At some point during the night a couple of guys, speaking a foreign language, tried to open the back of Luke's truck (probably thinking there were bikes in the truck). Thankfully Luigi started barking and woke Luke up and he was able to yell at the guys and scare them away.
The next morning we drove the rest of the way to our campground.
The campground was beautiful scenery, but Luke and I were sick and having a hard time enjoying the trip. The kids and the dog had no problem enjoying it:
