Fishing Derby

It was great weather at the annual Loveland Fishing Derby. If you remember my post from last year, we had some major frustrations with the derby as we stayed all day and didn't catch anything. This year we had much better luck.

We invited some other families to join us so the kids all had a blast together

Lily had an accident with her fishing pole. When she tried to cast it herself, she ended up hooking herself in the back of the neck. I had to pull the hook out of her neck. There was lots of tears and screaming. It took a long time to convince her to try again, this is the face I got when she finally picked up her pole

But then she caught a little fish and was happy again

We caught tons of little fish which helped to keep the kids interested

Can you tell they are siblings?

By mid afternoon the kids were getting restless
But then we started catching big fish

Jack and I walked over to have the fish cleaned and cooked

While Jack and I were dealing with the fish, Luke was catching more big ones. When we got back he had caught two more big fish
Then Jack helped him reel in another
This last fish was 14.5 inches and was the 2nd place winner for biggest fish

With that fish we reached our limit of 4 total fish so we just spent the rest of the day hanging out with friends

It was a great day!
